Experience of the drama presentation

I never thought of our drama group will enter the drama and compete with other groups. This was really a challenging task for me as I would have to face so many people at the leacture theatre. During our drama presentation in the tutorial class, I- as the host in the drama, forgot my dialog and there were other groups that had more interesting storyline. Therefore, I did not think that we would succeed in going to the final.

But...

When the lecturer announced that we- FRIENDS- was going to the final, I was so shocked! OMG- we were going to the final~!
We had been practising for the whole week of the tuition free week. We hoped to present our best to the people and hoped that they would enjoy watching our presentation.

During the day of the drama final presentation, I was so nervous that I made some small mistake again. But the most important part was when I had to be killed by Mr.Bao, that particular scene was supposed to be acted in slow motion. However, he acted a bit faster than I expected. Besides, I had to fall backward and Mr.Mao had to hold me in return. Due to this sudden shock and changes, all of these - the fell and the hold, were so perfect in view (according to my friends). They told me that I acted so real but infact it was due to my shockness. (wahahah)...Anyway, I felt so funny about that scene...

Jason performed Canon in D using his violin and he attracted all the watcher in the lecture theatre- including the judges ...

We all gained a lot in this drama presentation - coperation between each others, time arrangement and so on. We hope that the new student will also have the opportunity to have this kind of performance too...=)

26th October

We were selected to perform in the final moral presentaion on the 26th Ocotber. In this performance, there were some changes in our roles if compared to the previous performance which has been done in the class during tutorial session. Some changes had been done as we tried to bring out an interesting performance to the audiences. Besides, this also enabled us to gain more experiences as we had the chance to play different roles during the performance. We had spend nights to practice for the performance. Although it was tiring, we had had a memorable experiences together and we enjoyed ourselves very much.

The Moral Performance on 26th of October

Last Friday, 26th of October there was a moral performance going on.
There were 11 groups selected to perform on that day.
Our group is one of the 11.

Through 3 rehearsals as well as discussion on how to improve our performance.
I think that we did our best on that day.
Although we did not manage to achieve the top 3, but we did learn some experiences
such as making full preparations for a performance, mustering up some courage during performance and one important thing: Enjoy the performance.

The other groups did well for their own performances.
Tiring.... but content haha XD.

Moral Studies(sketch) - Talk Show

On the last few week, its our moral performance on sketch. The title for this moral sketch is “The lifes Is in our hand”. All the group were asked to prepare for this performace and try to come out with a drama with can be related with “The Lifes Is In Our hand”. Our group, F.R.I.E.N.D had come out with a performance which is different from the other groups, a talk show. This is the talk show where few guests were invited to share their experience on some incidences, which had great affect on their life. Whole members in our group had taken a role during this performance.
Dorris ling (Host of the talk show)
- give a introduction show and define the meaning of “The lifes Is in Our hand”.- Hosting the talk show in a humor way and perform it lively.- Having communication with the guests and asking them questions.

Wong Bao Rong (First Guest)
- sharing a experience of shoplifting.- How the incidence affect his life and what the changes he made.

Yong Siao Fong (Second Guest)
- sharing a experience of being a top student- briefing on how she control her life and how she get rid of those bad behaviours.

Wong Mau Hong (Third Guest)
- sharing a experience of being a ganster- how the incidence of losing a close friend changes his life- have a short drama on that incidence.

Jason Chao ( Forth Guest)
- sharing a experience of how music changes his life- have a short performance on music(violin)

We had a great experience from the performance. We had learnt a lot of things, such as bravely, presentation skills, acting skills and lastly we had gained confidence for ourselves.

Definition of cloning

There are three types of cloning. First, is known as recombinant DNA technology or DNA cloning. It is the process or transferring the DNA fragment from one organism to another organism or is better known as self-replicating genetic element. Second is call reproductive cloning. It is a technology that used to generate an animal that has the same nuclear DNA as another existing animal. Dolly was the example that created by reproductive cloning technology through a process called “somatic cell nuclear transfer” (SCNT). Third type of cloning is therapeutic cloning or also called as “embryo cloning”. It is not to clone human but is used as a production of human embryos in research in order to harvest stem cells that can be uses to study human development and to cure diseases.

Brief history about cloning

The first cloned organism was created by Hans Dreisch n the late 1800’s and the abjective was to prove that genetic organism is not losing cell division, not to create a clone. Meanwhile, in 1902, another scientist calls Hans Spemman, he found out that he will be able to shown that there are no genetic material was lost as cells grew and divided in his experiment to develop salamander embryos into adult salamander. The first experiment on producing a genetically copy by nuclear transfer was done In year 1952 on frogs by a team of scientist in Philadelphia. In 1977, the firast cloned organism from embryo was created by a German scientist successfully. After that, the first cloned mammal, a mice, had been successfully cloned in 1986 and the experiment was carried on by transfer the nuclear from embryonic cells. In 1996, a sheep name Dolly had been successfully cloned by Scottish scientists as Roslin institute. It was the greatest breakthrough in science and cloning technology. October 3, 1997, the Honolulu Technique created Cumulina, the cloned mouse. She was cloned from cumulus cells that surround developing eggs cells using traditional nuclear transfer. The scientists repeated the process for many years, yielding over fifty mice that are virtually identical by the end of July, 1998. The Honolulu Technique’s success rate of 50:1 is almost six times better than Roslin institute’s success rate. 277:1. As cloning technique improves, more and more applications will be seen in everyday life.

Benefit Of Cloning

Ever since the cloning od Dolly, the topic of human cloning has reared
itself again. Experts form around the world have offered their opinion on
the topic and its effect on humans. A clone is a
collection of identical organisms that are derived from a single ancestor.
Scientists have been using this process of cloning to genetically engineer
small bits of DNA for years. Cloning brings a lot of benefits from different aspects such as:

PLANTS

The cloning of plants has many applications, not only to agriculture but to
medicine aswell. Herbicide resistant crops, earlier/delayed fruit ripening,
longer lasting fruit and higher yields of crops can be and have been
achieved through cloning.

ANIMALS

The cloning of animals could/can:
1) improve transgenic animals for biotechnology
2) reduce numbers of animals necessary for medical studies.
3) It will be possible to create large numbers of custom-designed transgenic
animals that secrete medically useful human proteins in their milk eg.
human clotting factor and fibrinogen.
4) Cloning can be used to create model animals for research eg. sheep designed
to replicate the effects of human cystic fibrosis

HUMANS

1) Cloning might reveal how the environment within the cells of the early
embryo regulates gene function.
2) Might help combat genetic diseaes by allowing researches to turn off bad
genes and turn on good genes.
3) Allow parents of a young child fatally injured to be cloned should enough
cells be recovered from the body.
4) Grow organs intended for transplant therapy.
5) Aid infertile people
6) Can assess how much environment and genetic makeup interact eg. How much
does environment play in governing intelligence.
7) Alter functions etc of proteins eg. enzymes can be developed on a large scale
with new or improved functions.
